10. The Linen Shirt pattern sheets in Letter. PS010

The Linen Shirt

The linen shirt is a timeless design. The simple cut uses the fabric to the maximum, and almost leave no leftovers.
No collars have been found in Norse settlements from the Viking period. Under- and overshirts can be similar, but often with different material and decorations. I have chosen to make the neckline quite tight, with the split closed with a brooch. On the tunic, however, feel free to play with various cuts and designs on the neckline

The linen shirt reaching to mid-thigh, or almost to the knee, with reference to the Oseberg tapestry, golden follies and depictions on jewelries.
This pattern sheet is to the simple linen shirt most Vikings had.
